Health/Medical Writers

JANESVILLE, Wis.--(BW HealthWire)--July 17, 2001

Glucona America Inc. Tuesday announced the introduction of a novel compound that enhances the body's ability to lower total serum cholesterol levels, LDL LDL - ["LDL: A Logic-Based Data-Language", S. Tsur et al, Proc VLDB 1986, Kyoto Japan, Aug 1986, pp.33-41].  and VLDL VLDL very-low-density lipoprotein.

ß-VLDL , beta VLDL a mixture of lipoproteins with diffuse electrophoretic mobility approximately that of ß-lipoproteins but having lower density; they are remnants derived from
 cholesterol levels.

Called Preventium(R), it is the patented form of potassium hydrogen d-glucarate, which is found naturally in the body as well as in certain vegetables and fruits. Preventium(R) will be marketed as a dietary supplement to help support healthy cholesterol levels.

Researchers at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center found that in animal studies Preventium(R) reduced total serum cholesterol by up to 14 percent, and lowered LDL cholesterol LDL cholesterol

by up to 35 percent. No significant effect was noted on healthy cholesterol HDL (Hardware Description Language) A language used to describe the functions of an electronic circuit for documentation, simulation or logic synthesis (or all three). Although many proprietary HDLs have been developed, Verilog and VHDL are the major standards. .

Preventium(R) was particularly effective in reducing serum cholesterol in rats fed high-fat diets. Additional research has been conducted at the AMC (Advanced Mezzanine Card) See AdvancedTCA.  Cancer Research Center in Denver and the University of Colorado University of Colorado may refer to:

A number of pharmaceutical inhibitors of cholesterol synthesis have been developed in recent years, however, most of these hypocholesterolemic agents were found to be carcinogenic carcinogenic

Preventium(R) is a natural and nontoxic substance without any adverse side effects. The cholesterol-lowering mechanisms of action include reduction in the steady state levels of cholesterol synthesis and Preventium(R) may also affect cholesterol metabolism and excretion in the form of bile acids.

As a dietary supplement, Preventium(R) can be formulated as a single ingredient supplement or can be incorporated into a multi-ingredient formula with other compatible nutrients.

"Glucona is extremely excited to present this cutting-edge product," said Sean Traci, president of Glucona America Inc. "In accordance with our company mission, Glucona is dedicated to providing ingredients based on the latest scientific findings with therapeutic benefits for the end consumer. Preventium(R) is a natural compound that can help consumers support healthy cholesterol levels."

Glucona obtained exclusive manufacturing and distribution rights from BioChemix Inc. of Austin, Texas. Preventium(R)is protected under U.S. Patent No. 5364644.
