Entrust's new SET capabilities further establish GlobeSet's role as a leader in SET solutions and SET interoperability, as well as Entrust's leadership in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) A framework for creating a secure method for exchanging information based on public key cryptography. SET 1.0 digital certificates enable secure payment card transactions over the Internet. All parties involved in a SET transaction must have certificates to validate their identity. These certificates, along with other safeguards provided by SET technology, help create a trusted environment in which goods and services In economics, economic output is divided into physical goods and intangible services. Consumption of goods and services is assumed to produce utility (unless the "good" is a "bad"). Application interoperability is a key factor with SET. All SET transactions require an electronic wallet See digital wallet.  for the card holder, a merchant POS application for the merchant server, and a payment gateway application that provides an interface to existing payment card processing systems. These applications, often provided by different SET vendors, must be completely interoperable to support SET transactions.

GlobeSet is a leader in SET interoperability. Since last year, GlobeSet has demonstrated interoperability with SET applications from American Express, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company.
