GLOBE Asiatique defeated Jawad Business Group 60-42 in the Intercolour Division of the second Western Union Basketball Tournament being organised by the Filipino Club Basketball Group.

Bryan Mikesell and Edward Frias scored 10 points each for the winners while for the losing team Rex Daming (11 points) and Nomar Diaz (9) did most of the scoring.

The tournament is in its third week with 30 teams participating in a four-month double round robin format. The teams are divided into two divisions comprising of the Commercial League and Intercolour League.

In the Commercial League, all Filipino team Baker, Wilkins & Smith-A beat Bank Muscat Muscat, Maskat, or Masqat (all: mŭs`kăt, mŭs`kət), city (1993 pop. 533,774), capital of Oman, SE Arabia, on the Gulf of Oman. It is flanked by rugged mountains.  International 72-66.

Ricky Santiago scored a season high 29 points while George Pantaleon contributed 12 points for the winners.

Clinic

Americans Gordon Tyree (15) and Bahraini Ahmed Payan (23) were the top scorers for the losers.

Meanwhile, the group will start the grassroots basketball development for Filipino kids aged under-12 after Ramadan.

After the clinic, children will be divides into five to six teams for a tournament to be played every Friday till December.

The participants will be provided with free basketball jersey and hands out. The organisers will be accepting over 100 Filipino kids provided the parents or guardian are Filipino Club members.
