Globalization Index.

WHAT MAKES A COUNTRY GLOBAL? LONG DISTANCE PHONE CALLS, TOURISM, strong investment and capital markets. Or so says Foreign Policy magazine.

The magazine's latest index ranks Chile as the most globalized country in the region. Mexico, thanks to strong trade, shows the best mix of indicators.

The index is based on four factors: technology, measured by Internet use; personal contact as determined by arrivals of foreign tourists and long distance phone calls; goods and services, which hinges on levels of international trade; and finance, including foreign investment.
