Kenilworth-based writer Andrew Davies is judging the competition and the winning script will be staged in the studio theatre next year.

He has worked with the Loft in the past and his many TV successes include Pride And Prejudice, Bleak House, Fanny Hill and Doctor Zhivago.

The Loft is one of the UK's leading community-based theatre companies and Gus says the venue might even stage a mini-festival of the best scripts next year if there are enough good scripts.

He says: "We are delighted that Andrew Davies is helping us with the competition and his involvement has certainly encouraged people to enter."

Anyone who wants to submit a script for the competition has until the end of the month to send in entries.
