Global Water Technologies and Psychrometric Systems Awarded $4.5 Million Contract To Reduce River Water Thermal Pollution in Mexico.

) today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Psychrometric Systems, Inc. (PSI), has reinstated a contract with Consorcio Azucarero Escorpion, S.A. de C.V. (CAZE) which calls for PSI to supply technology and equipment for cooling water at three of CAZE's sugar refineries in Mexico. The equipment is scheduled for delivery during the last half of 1999. The contract, which had an initial value of approximately $4.2 million, has now been increased to $4.5 million.

The equipment to be supplied by PSI will reduce CAZE's dependence on river water as well as reduce thermal pollution thermal pollution: see water pollution.  of the Mexican water sources typically utilized by industry in Mexico for process cooling water. GWTR is currently in discussions with other major industrial water users worldwide to help lessen their dependency on public waterways and decrease thermal pollution. Federal, state and local governments are becoming more aware of the environmental impact caused by thermal pollution and, therefore, are becoming more stringent with thermal discharge guidelines and the imposition of penalties.
