Global Technologies, Ltd. Announces Appointment of Prominent United Kingdom Businessmen Lord Young of Graffham and Richard Giordano, KBE, to Lead Its Lottery Initiative.

GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LTD. ("GTL") (NASDAQ: GTLL) today announced that Lord David Young of Graffham and Richard Giordano, KBE, will join GTL Management Limited ("GTL Management"), which is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of GTL, in the development of GTL's charity sponsored lottery business in the United Kingdom ("UK").

The lotteries are currently operated for the benefit of 38 well-known charities in the UK, which receive a substantial portion of lottery proceeds. GTL is in discussions with an additional 38 charities to join the list of beneficiaries of the lotteries.

Lord Young will chair the Board of the new venture, and Lord Young, Mr. Giordano and Irwin L. Gross, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GTL, will comprise the executive committee that manages the venture. Lord Young and Mr. Giordano plan to acquire an equity stake in the venture.

Throughout his career, Lord Young has chaired numerous companies in the UK. Most recently, in 1996, he founded Young Associates Ltd., a private equity firm, and currently serves as its Chairman. From 1990 to 1995, Lord Young also served as Chairman of Cable & Wireless PLC, a major global telecommunications business with 1998-99 revenues of around (pound)8 billion (US$12.5 billion) and over 50,000 employees. Prior to his service in the private sector, Lord Young held many political positions in the UK, including serving as a member of Margaret Thatcher's Cabinet, Secretary of State for Employment, Secretary of State for Trade & Industry, and President of the Board of Trade. Lord Young is currently a Life Peer and Member of the Privy Council, Deputy Lieutenant of the County of West Sussex, Chairman of the West Sussex Economic Forum, Chairman of Council for the University College in London, President of the Institute of Directors and Chairman of Chichester Festival Theatre.

Mr. Giordano is currently Chairman of BG Group plc, a leading international energy company. BG Group's business portfolio includes a substantial exploration and production business, a leading position in many parts of the world in the creation, management and supply of newly emerging natural gas markets, and the ownership and operation of the transmission and distribution system in the UK, which serves 20 million customers. From January 1994 to February 1997, Mr. Giordano was Chairman of British Gas plc. After the demerger of British Gas plc in February 1997, Mr. Giordano was Chairman of both of the companies into which it split, BG plc (operations outside of the UK and predecessor company to BG Group plc) and Centrica plc (operations within the UK). Mr. Giordano has led numerous other companies as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, including Airco Inc. and its successor BOC Group. Mr. Giordano has served on the Boards of many companies, including the UK Central Electricity Generating Board, National Power, Grand Metropolitan plc, Reuters plc, Lucas plc, Georgia-Pacific Corporation and Rio Tinto plc.

GTL's UK lottery is called "The Daily Number" (www.dailynumber.co.uk) and is operated for the benefit of charities located throughout the UK. The Daily Number, which is only available to citizens of Great Britain, is currently operating and selling tickets through a network of 3,000 terminals located throughout the North of England. It is expected that this number will rise to 3,500 as 500 additional terminals are added to the network in the coming weeks.

The Daily Number is the first "pick three" style lottery game to be made available to British citizens. GTL has developed and launched The Daily Number with the expectation of capturing a portion of the UK's estimated US$12 billion lottery market. GTL plans to offer The Daily Number, together with other games, via the Internet in the second half of calendar year 2000.
