Global One Selects Intermedia Communications For Enterprise Data and IP Network Services In The U.S.

Global One chooses Intermedia's state-of-the-art U.S. network as part of its expansion program in the U.S. market

Award-winning International telecommunications carrier, Global One, and leading U.S. communications provider, Intermedia Communications (Nasdaq:ICIX), today announced a three-year agreement to deliver state-of-the-art, enterprise data and IP network services in the U.S. market.

Under the agreement, Intermedia will provide broadband data and high-speed Internet network services to Global One for origination and termination in the U.S. The use by Global One of Intermedia's network is one important part of the overall Global One growth strategy for the U.S. market. Global One will interconnect its international ATM-based backbone network with Intermedia's nationwide U.S. network to carry Global One leased line clear channel access services and Global One flagship solutions, including Global Frame Relay, Global ATM, and Global IP.

The agreement marks a significant milestone for Global One in its expansion into the U.S. marketplace. As a member of the France Telecom Group -- following the purchase this year by France Telecom of full Global One ownership from Sprint and Deutsche Telekom -- Global One gained the right to sell its services directly in the U.S and Germany. Until then, Global One had played a support role in the U.S. to Sprint, which had enjoyed the exclusive right to market the Global One brand and product set here.

As part of its aggressive expansion to serve multinational businesses with U.S. communications needs, Global One will broaden its international sales force to include offices in 12 U.S. cities by the end of 2000. The company's ATM-based network infrastructure will expand to 20 cities, and employee headcount will also increase significantly over the next year. At the same time, Global One will be using Intermedia's nationwide network for services to both domestic and international corporate customers.
