Global LSIT Adds Four New Organizations to Growing List of Members; New Organizations Include Amylin Pharmaceuticals, BIOCOM, EKM Corp., and CSUPERB.

SAN DIEGO -- Life Sciences Information Technology (LSIT) Global Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing open, publicly available Good Informatics Practices (GIP) for the life and health sciences communities, today announced that four new organizations have become members of LSIT. The organizations include Amylin Pharmaceuticals, BIOCOM, EKM Corp. and California State University Program for Education and Research in Biotechnology (CSUPERB). LSIT's mission is to prove through scientifically sound testing that GIP guidelines can be trusted, validated and effective. The effective and appropriate use of IT offers the possibility to reduce both the time and cost of bringing new medical therapeutics and products from discovery to patient.

"I am pleased to warmly welcome the new members of LSIT," said Howard Asher, chairman of the board of LSIT. "We believe that trusted GIP guidelines utilized in the life and health sciences community will allow much more advanced efforts to rapidly improve global public health," added Asher. "We joined LSIT to help establish trusted IT guidance where medical product suppliers together with the FDA and other regulatory agencies can accept the validity of electronic records as 'trusted data,'" said D. All organizations joining LSIT are requested to assign one Executive Sponsor to serve as its LSIT member liaison. The sponsor will provide representation and support to LSIT, provide consistent and accurate communications and uphold and convey the quality and integrity of LSIT to its organization.
