SYRACUSE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 2001

Groundbreaking course features palmtop portability and live

instruction

Over 200 business professionals, from more than 40 top companies, in Europe, Asia, and Latin America are among the first to enroll in a pilot of Professional English, a groundbreaking palmtop English course, from AdvanceWork International(TM). Completely mobile, Professional English teaches by blending multimedia instruction and language practice on a PocketPC(TM) PDA and live phone conversations with native English-speaking instructors. The course technology allows participants to learn anywhere, anytime.

Working with the human resources organizations of Global 1000 companies, AdvanceWork selected executives at various organizational and fluency levels for the abbreviated Pilot version of the course, which includes 11 lessons and reference material on a Cassiopeia(TM) PocketPC, and live, one-to-one conversations by phone with a native English speaking instructor, followed by extensive feedback and coaching.

HR departments and employees receptive to Pilot

Both the human resources managers responsible for English training and the employees are enthusiastic about the new series, according to Syd Dufton, AdvanceWork VP for Sales, " The HR department gets an adaptable, personalized solution that works consistently across time zones and regions, with no administrative overhead. Employees get completely mobile learning without going to classes and meshing schedules. By blending portable learning with one-to-one, instructor-student phone calls, employees enjoy live speaking practice needed to achieve fluency."

The first three courses in the Professional English series, for advanced beginner through advanced-intermediate level students, will be released in July. Conversation focused, the courses are designed for professionals in global companies who need business English fluency for success.
