Glenro Split-Case Infrared Heat Tunnels... Intense, Precisely Controlled Process Heating for Narrow Products.

Business Editors

PATERSON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 2003

Glenro Inc. has a line of Split-Case Infrared Heat Tunnels, which are available as individual heaters, as heaters with controls, or as part of complete custom-engineered process heating systems. Infrared heat tunnels surround the product to provide even and rapid heating making them ideal for processing narrow products. They can be used to dry coatings on flat braid for electrical tape Electrical tape is a type of pressure-sensitive tape used to insulate electrical wires and other material that conduct electricity. It can be made of many plastics, but vinyl is most popular; it stretches better, giving a more effective and longer lasting insulation. ; dry coatings on narrow fabrics; heatset narrow fabrics; dry printing on narrow webs; cure striping Interleaving or multiplexing data to increase speed. See disk striping.

Each fiber is surrounded by a cladding having a high index of refractance so that the light is internally reflected and travels the length of the fiber ; preheat wire prior to extrusion; dry fluoropolymer A fluoropolymer is a polymer that contains atoms of fluorine. It is characterized by a high resistance to solvents, acids, and bases.

Glenro Split-Case Infrared Heat Tunnels are available in 7.5 inch or 15 inch heated widths with a 40 inch heated length. The size of the metal case is either 16 or 23 inches across machine direction x 42 inches in machine direction x 16 inches deep. Input voltages are 480, 240, 208 or 575, three-phase. Infrared heat tunnels add large amounts of infrared energy to a product in a short dwell time The time cargo remains in a terminal's in-transit storage area while awaiting shipment by clearance transportation. See also storage. . The smaller tunnel is rated at 12kW; the larger at 27kW. The narrower model sells for $4950 and the wider for $5850.

Split-Case Infrared Heat Tunnels incorporate wire heating elements, which maintain a high temperature in the process zone. The infrared heating Infrared heating refers to heating objects (or people) through electromagnetic radiation.

Infrared radiation is nothing but another name for a specific part of the electromagnetic spectrum.
elements in each half of the heat tunnel are offset to facilitate even heat distribution. Adjustable insulated reflectors at both the entry and exit ends help maintain internal heater temperature, while minimizing heat losses.

Glenro builds Split-Case Infrared Heat Tunnels with heavy gauge aluminized steel Aluminized steel is steel that has been hot-dip coated both sides with aluminum-silicon alloy. This process assures a tight metallurgical bond between the steel sheet and its aluminum coating, producing a material with a unique combination of properties possessed neither by steel  for long operating life under rugged conditions. The cases are hinged and gasketed to allow easy access to the interior for product threading and maintenance. The rectangular tunnels can be mounted horizontally or vertically.

"These heat tunnels are something of a departure for Glenro," says Jim Alimena, the company's Vice President of Marketing. "Usually, Glenro custom designs process heating systems for our customers' individual process requirements. When it became apparent that many narrow product processes could benefit from similarly configured heat tunnels, we decided to design and manufacture some standard infrared equipment. Our new heat tunnels make a lot of Glenro's infrared technology and process heating engineering expertise available to companies that don't need custom-engineered and manufactured infrared systems. Moreover, customers appreciate the aggressive pricing and quick delivery."

Glenro Split-Case Infrared Heat Tunnels are available with Glenro's CS2000 controls for cost-effective, field-proven heater and control packages. CS2000 control systems use SCRs to regulate power input to the heating elements via thermocouple feedback control loops. Temperatures are adjustable, but once set require no further attention. The control systems are packaged compactly in painted NEMA NEMA National Electrical Manufacturers Association

Glenro also custom designs and manufactures complete Split-Case Infrared Heat Tunnel systems. These industrial ovens and dryers include one or more heat tunnels, with gasketed seals between infrared heaters. Complete systems typically include pneumatic cylinders to open and close the heater cases, painted steel framework and exhaust hoods. , Glenro custom-engineered heat tunnel systems come with Glenro's full engineering support from initial inquiry, through process development, system selection, equipment design and manufacture, to installation, start-up and operation. Glenro Split-Case Infrared Heat Tunnel systems also include control systems that feature digital operator interfaces, NEMA enclosures and SCR (Sequence Control Register) See program counter.  controls, which maintain oven temperature by thermocouple or optical pyrometer feedback control loops. Glenro can divide the industrial oven systems into separately controlled temperature zones for greater process control and product quality. Glenro ships industrial ovens pre-wired and skid mounted to minimize installation time and ensure product quality.
