Glenayre and Infomobile Commercially Test ERMES I4 Infomobile to Provide Pager Roaming in Europe.


CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Oct. 11, 1995--Glenayre Technologies, Inc. and Infomobile of Guyancourt, France have agreed to begin testing the ERMES/I4 Interface for Glenayre's GL3000 paging system.

The ERMES/I4 protocol allows the roaming of pager subscribers, much the same as Global Systems for Mobile (GSM) cellular users can roam in Europe today Europe Today is a daily radio news show on the BBC World Service about public affairs throughout Europe. . The testing will begin in early November 1995 at Infomobile's site in Guyancourt, France, using Glenayre paging infrastructure equipment.

Infomobile is the first operator to have opened an ERMES paging service. It was in September 1994, covering 20 percent of France in the Paris area. Year end 1995 the service will be available to half the population and is making full use of ERMES capacity with long messages and PC access.
