) Japan announced on February 1 that it has begun distributing Asthma asthma (ăz`mə, ăs`–), chronic inflammatory respiratory disease characterized by periodic attacks of wheezing, shortness of breath, and a tight feeling in the chest. A cough producing sticky mucus is symptomatic.  Control Test (ACT), a support tool for diagnosing asthma.

The new tool, which gives five basic questions to examine the status of patients, helps determine whether the treatment plan is working or needs to be changed.

Asthma Control Test, which was developed in the US, is currently used in about 50 countries nationwide for controlling asthma.
