Girls and Boys Town Receives Prestigious CUBIC Award.

Bellevue University Serves as its Academic Partner

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Girls and Boys Town earned a Corporate University Best in Class (CUBIC) award as the Best New Corporate University at the 4th Annual CUBIC Awards dinner and ceremony held Monday evening in Florida, during the 8th Annual Corporate University Week 2006 national convention.

Girls and Boys Town launched its corporate university in August 2006, partnering with Bellevue University. As part of the new corporate university, Girls and Boys Town employees from any of its 19 facilities located in 15 states and the District of Columbia can earn a Master of Science degree in Family and Youth Services, through Bellevue University's online learning platform.

Father Steve Boes, National Executive Director of Girls and Boys Town, said the partnership with Bellevue University is vital to Girls and Boys Town's mission of changing the way America cares for her children and families. "The flexibility of Bellevue University's program was very responsive to our unique training needs. This platform allows us to more effectively train our staff utilizing our researched based programs and training and combining it with Bellevue University's effective program."

Fr. Boes said the partnership with Bellevue University allows Girls and Boys Town to provide advanced educational opportunities to its employees while providing improved quality of care to its children.

"This is just the first of many programs on which we plan to partner with Girls and Boys Town," said Dr. Mary Hawkins, Bellevue University Provost. "Bellevue University was chosen by Girls and Boys Town to be its partner because we are flexible, open-minded, creative and experienced in delivering effective programs to adults in an online environment," Hawkins said. "We plan to expand that criteria to develop additional programs to meet the academic needs of all Girls and Boys Town employees."

The master's degree program will have 80 students enrolled on an ongoing basis within two years. New classes offering the master's degree program will begin each March and August.
