PALM DESERT, Calif. -- Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council will host the Smart Cookie Chef's Challenge on Sunday, January 27 from 2 - 5 p.m. at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, 75-200 Classic Club Blvd. Tickets are available for $50 each and include a reception-style sampling of eight area chef's creations featuring Girl Scout cookies along with beverage pairing. VIP packages are $150 each and include reserved seating, champagne bar and a meet and greet session with the chefs. The Smart Cookie Chef's Challenge is a competition between eight area chefs. Each chef will prepare a dish highlighting Girl Scout cookies which will be judged by a panel of local culinary experts and media.

Proceeds from the event will benefit girls in the Coachella Valley Coachella Valley (kō'əchĕl`ə), arid region, SE Calif., N of the Salton Sea. Water is brought into the region by artesian wells and by the Coachella Canal (123 mi/198 km long), a branch of the All-American Canal built between 1938 and  with programs and leadership opportunities through Girl Scouting scouting: see Boy Scouts; Girl Scouts.
