JS This second book about Jess, following Girl, 15, Charming but Insane, adapts beautifully to audio, especially with Kellgren's zippy, fully voiced reading. Going on an unexpected "holiday" with her mum and granny, while not what Jess wants to do, turns out to be the best time of her life and gives her the opportunity to visit and discover so much about her dad. She tries to sort out the reasons behind her parents' break-up, figure out if Fred really loves her and how to get Granny to give up Grandpa's ashes. Kellgren gives 16-year-old Jess youthful impatience; she gives Jess's morn a voice that is a bit overwrought o·ver·wrought adj. 1. Excessively nervous or excited; agitated. 2. Kellgren has no trouble capturing Fred, the very cool boyfriend of the moment; Jess's dad, apprehensive and artistic; and of course, Phil, dad's unexpected boyfriend. While it's true that the market seems flooded with these tongue-in-cheek British girl teen books, Limb brings such a sweet freshness to these characters that this series is well worth a listen and/or read.
