Gipson and Stanton.

Eden Ann Gipson and Ronald Andrew Stanton Jr. were united in marriage in a candlelight service at 6:30 p.m. on April 28, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church in Vicksburg.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Philip Murray Gipson and the late Philip Murray Gipson of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Shelley H. Phillips of Greenwood, Mrs. Charlotte D. Gipson of Jackson, and Mr. James C. Gipson of Brandon.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Andrew Stanton of Bartlett, Tennessee. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis L. Stanton of West Columbia, South Carolina, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl M. Farabaugh of Pensacola, Florida.

Dr. Russell O. Hays officiated the double-ring ceremony, and Diane Wilder served as wedding director. A program of nuptial music was presented by Barbara Tracy, organist; Joanne Ryan, guitarist; Mary Claire Allison, flutist; and Diane Thompson, soloist. Program attendants were Rachael Bakowicz and Leah Sellers. Floral and candlelight arrangements decorating the sanctuary were designed by The Ivy Place and placed in loving memory of the bride's father.

At the chiming of the hour, the bride, escorted by her brother, Kirk Phillips Gipson, entered to Wagner's "Bridal Chorus" wearing a lace cathedral-length champagne and rum strapless gown accented with Swarovski crystals. Her rum cathedral veil was trimmed in silver and adorned with rhinestones. She carried a classical nosegay featuring pale, rum-colored roses, ivory hydrangeas, and white freesia scattered throughout with rhinestone clusters.

Lenox Dare McClendon of Memphis, Tennessee, served her friend as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Laura Jane Hoffmeister and Alicia Susette MacIntyre, both of Memphis; Amanda Kelly Arthur of Zachary, Louisiana; Sarah Florence Tipton of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and Ashley Claire White, cousin of the bride, of Greenwood. Attendants wore floor-length strapless gowns of European navy featuring an A-line skirt and a gathered band of champagne at the waist that fell into a back-flowing streamer. They each carried nosegays of pale-blue hydrangeas, peach tulips, yellow freesia, and rum roses covered at the stems with navy ribbons.

Flower girl Hannah Renee Stanton, niece of the groom, of Round Lake, Illinois, wore a Strasburg ecru silk dress and carried an ivory basket of flowers that repeated the colors in the bridesmaids' bouquets. A halo of ecru silk flowers, featuring a satin bow and ribbon streamers adorned, her hair.

Ryan Earl Stanton of Temple, Texas, served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Kirk Phillips Gipson and Sean Patrick Murphy, both of Memphis; Timothy John Doles of Buffalo, New York; David Williams Litchford of Greenville, North Carolina; and Jeffrey Scott Stanton, brother of the groom, of Round Lake, Illinois.

Ushers were Robert Berry Garris of Memphis, Tennessee; Avik Mukherjee of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts; and Spencer Thomas White, cousin of the bride, of Greenwood.

Following the ceremony, the bride's mother hosted a reception at the B'nai B'rith Literary Club. Family friend Pat Cashman transported the newly-married couple from the church to the historical downtown building in his beautiful maroon and black 1966 Vanden Plas Princess. A single red rose in a clear vase inside the car added romantic ambience to the occasion.

Inside the architecturally exquisite Grand Ballroom, an oversized urn filled with spring flowers adorned the food table from which guests were treated to a lavish buffet catered by Storycook Favorites. The bride's four-tiered Bailey's Irish cream cake was decorated with swirls of icing and edible white pearls and topped with a brightly-colored arrangement of fresh flowers. The top layer of the groom's chocolate basket weave-design cake displayed the insignia of his college alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Both cakes were prepared by That Special Touch in Pearl. The Ben Shaw Band provided lively musical entertainment. The couple selected "For Once In My Life" by Frank Sinatra for their first dance together as newlyweds.

As the evening drew to a close, guests who had gathered outdoors to await the couple's departure were given miniature silver champagne bottles filled with wedding bubbles. When the bride and groom descended the marble stairs, the crowd showered them with a canopy of bubbles. After hugging family and friends goodbye, the newlyweds climbed into the rumble seat of a 1929 Ford Roadster that had previously been featured in the movie, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Playfully honking the horn of his antique car for the crowd's enjoyment, Danny Mashburn then whisked the couple away to begin their married lives.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a lovely rehearsal dinner at Duff Green Mansion in Vicksburg.

In honor of the members of the wedding party, the bride's mother hosted a jazz brunch at Magnolia Bluff on the morning of the ceremony.

After a honeymoon in Jamaica, the couple is at home in Memphis where the bride is a senior financial analyst with Mercer Capital Management, Inc. and the groom is completing a residency in radiology at the University of Tennessee.
