Retek Inc. (Nasdaq:RETK) announced today that the retail operations of Giorgio Armani are expanding the use of Retek Store Systems (RSS), leveraging the solution to improve supply chain operations. Retek supports Armani operations 28 retail stores in the United States. Armani uses Retek Store Systems for store operations management, supporting critical store level activities including receiving, stock adjustments, transfers, return to vendor, ticketing and stock lookups. Retek Store Systems has been deployed throughout Armani's stores in a wireless environment, and is deployed onto handheld devices within the store.

Armani will expand the usage of RSS to facilitate more efficient supply chain operations. North American stores receive product from company headquarters in Milan, Italy. Armani will utilize advanced shipment notice (ASN) data to manage the shipment of product directly from the manufacturer to the store, eliminating the need for Armani's retail warehousing function. Armani is also using other Retek solutions for merchandising operations management.
