) - In a partnership initiated by Summit Pharmaceuticals International, Ginkgo ginkgo (gĭng`kō) or maidenhair tree, tall, slender, picturesque deciduous tree (Ginkgo biloba) with fan-shaped leaves.  Biomedical Research Biomedical research (or experimental medicine), in general simply known as medical research, is the basic research or applied research conducted to aid the body of knowledge in the field of medicine.  Institute, Carna Biosciences, and CrystalGenomics jointly announced on March 14 that they have agreed to collaborate in the development of an anti-cancer agent.

Under this partnership, the three companies will strive to develop an agent that inhibits the activity of Cdc7-ASK kinase, which plays a role in chromosomal DNA replication DNA replication is the process of copying a double-stranded DNA molecule. This process is important in all known life forms and the general mechanisms of DNA replication are not the same in prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. .

In addition to leading preclinical and clinical development, Ginkgo Biomedical bi·o·med·i·cal

 will provide assay systems for the Cdc7-ASK kinase inhibitor and conduct pharmacological experiments. Carna Biosciences will handle compound screening and construct a protein expression system and CrystalGenomics will analyze the structure of Cdc7-ASK and optimize a lead compound.

The collaboration aims to obtain a hit compound in one year and create an optimized lead compound in two years. The three companies will share intellectual property rights for a new inhibitor as well as future profits.
