His 47 years at Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. gave him a tenure of President, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  and Chairman of the Board. Gimbel's service at Reliance made him a key strategist in today's metal service industry where he planned Reliance's future and the corporate course of Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. with new innovations in upscale metals processing equipment. His vision of Reliance has now been realized to a national company with 64 metal service centers.

Gimbel is survived by his wife Georgina, son Thomas, and daughters Susan, Joanne and Janet.
