Gilat Satellite Networks Gilat Satellite Networks is a publicly-traded Israeli company (NASDAQ: GILT. (Nasdaq: GILTF) today announced it has been selected by a Turkish government agency to provide a 356-site satellite communications network The transmission channels interconnecting all client and server stations as well as all supporting hardware and software.  for use by the Turkey Emergency Flood and Earthquake Recovery Project (TEFER).

Gilat will provide one Skystar Advantage central satellite hub system to Turkey's General Directorate of State Meteorological Works (DMI (Desktop Management Interface) The first desktop management standard from the DMTF. Enabling PCs to be monitored from a central console, it was superseded by the DMTF's Common Information Model (see CIM). ) and one hub system to the Directorate of State Hydrological Works (DSI (Dynamic Systems Initiative) An umbrella term for a suite of Microsoft products that help manage the Windows environment in large enterprises. DSI was introduced in 2003. ). The VSAT (Very Small Aperture satellite Terminal) A small earth station for satellite transmission that handles up to 56 Kbits/sec of digital transmission. ), hydrological stations and airport meteorological stations. Deployment of the VSAT equipment has begun and the project is scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2003.
