Gig guide: Ghoulish whispers; MARILYN MANSON.

Byline: OLD NICK

Former music journalist Brian Warner knows a thing or two about whipping up a frenzy of righteous indignation. In the past, his gigs have regularly been picketed by civic groups and concerned citizens, while Manson's spooky antics have attracted the wrath of right-wing groups and religious followers. It's amazing how a few well-chosen words about Beelzebub, a deft flourish with the make-up brush and wonky eyes can offend so many people. But, through albums such as Antichrist Superstar and The Golden Age Of Grotesque, MM has turned his version of goth-metal into a nice little earner.
