Gifts From the Heart: Sometimes the nicest holiday gifts don't cost a penny! (Money and You).

Since the tragic events of September September: see month.  11, Americans have done many things--big and small--to show how much they care. With the holidays approaching, you may wish to buy a special gift for a friend or family member to let them know how important they are to you.

Sometimes, the best gifts take more thought and time than money. Does an elderly relative live in your area? Instead of buying him or her new gloves or slippers, why not hand-deliver homemade home·made

First, Make a Budget

Before you head out to the stores--or go online to do your shopping--follow these simple steps:

1. Prepare a budget. Decide how much money you can spend.

2. Make a list of the gifts you will buy and calculate how much each one should cost.

While shopping, keep track of the amount you spend. This will help you stay within your budget. If a sale enables you to save money on a gift, you may want to add the savings to other gifts.
