Ghana : Another Oil Field Discovered in Ghana.
Owo-1 is a discovery well, approximately 174 feet of high quality oil and contained in stacks of Turonian reservoir sands. It's contained in a reservoir measuring about 500 meters, and the oil appears to be light crude between 33 and 36 degrees. The discovery of Owo marks the third oil in discovery by Anadarko-the other two being Tweneboa oil wells and Jubilee Fields.
Bob Daniels, Snr Vice President of Anadarko World Wode Exploration says Ana Darko plans to build on its current success through the end of this year and into 2011:
"Owo marks the partnership's third substantial discovery offshore Ghana and continues to enhance the gross resource potential of this prolific area and validate the quality of our geological models.We plan to continue an active drilling program offshore Ghana through the end of this year and into 2011," Daniels said.
AnaDarko holds an 18 percent stake in the Deepwater Tano Block. Tullow Oil, as operator has a 49.9 percent stake with Kosmos Oil, Sabre Oil and Gas, and Ghana National Petroleum Company(GNPC) acting as co-owners.
