Byline: Elaine C. Smith Elaine C. Smith (born August 2, 1958) is a Scottish actress and comedian. She was born in Baillieston in Glasgow, and she continues to live in the city.

Elaine attended Braidhurst High School in Motherwell.
 

The news that 21,000 people in Scotland are addicted to heroin or on methadone methadone (mĕth`ədōn', –dŏn'), synthetic narcotic similar in effect to morphine. Synthesized in Germany, it came into clinical use after World War II. It is sometimes used as an analgesic and to suppress the cough reflex.  programmes shames us all. We drink too much and our health record is terrible. Is life so bad here that we need to be out of our faces on drugs and booze? Why can't we handle life without stimulants? The new government have a huge task in trying to turn this country around but first we must take responsibility for our own actions.
