We looked to the fall fashion runways for inspiration and found the most darling 'dos for you! Bold Barrettes TRENDSPOTTING: Forget the wimpy little hair accessories of autumns past. With a brush, lightly lease the base of the pony to give it some height. Braid the leftover chunk, at the nape into a thick orald, and wrap it once around the pony using two criss-crossed bobby pins to hold in place. Leave end of braid loose to hang from the pony. It can be as simple as a ponytail, or as fancy as curls all over the top of the head. The difference between simply putting hair up and an updo, is that updo's are intended for formal affairs. . We made ours crafty cool by twisting it with a homemade-looking headband. WHAT YOU NEED: Wooden headband by Girlprops, $14. Bobby pins. GET THE LOOK: Make a side part, leaving hair loose from your ears forward. Pull the rest of your hair into a low pony (do not secure with elastic), and twist up toward the top of your head. Use criss-crossed bobby pins to hold the twist in place. Take leftover front pieces and tuck them into the twist from the sides, letting the very tips stick out like talls. Pin in place with bobby pins. Use a tiny amount of pomade to separate and sculpt sculpt v. sculpt·ed, sculpt·ing, sculpts v.tr. 1. To sculpture (an object). 2. Crimps TRENDSPOTTING: Crimps are a fabulous beauty flashback. And they were all over the runways! WHAT YOU NEED: Conair Shiny Styles hair styler with four interchangeable styling plates, $33. Rettail comb (the kind that has a pointy point·y adj. point·i·er, point·i·est Having an end tapering to a point. end on the handle). Wooden beads from a craft store. Bobby pins. Hairspray. GET THE LOOK: Using a rattail comb, form a zig-zag part. Comb hair straight, using the flat-iron plates that come with your Shiny Styles if necessary. Piece out a section by weaving the pointy end of the comb through hair from the front only (this will give the style more depth). Use the crimping plates on small sections of the separated pieces down the length of your hair. Repeat on the other side. Decorate by threading wooden beads in hair. Loop hair around a bobby pin, and guide the beads up and over a strand of hair (the crimped crimped said of grain that has been passed through corrugated rollers after previous exposure to moist heat so that the grain is fractured but there is a minimum of dust. sections of hair will hold the beads in place).
