BERKELEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 1999--

Next month UC Berkeley Extension will offer design lovers an opportunity to join Diane Dorrans Saeks and some of California's most influential designers, architects and craftspeople crafts·people

People who practice a craft; artisans.
 as they discuss how they bring beauty, meaning and utility into their design projects.

In "Behind the Scenes: An Insider's Look at Interior Design and Decoration," participants will learn how designers have gone from behind-the-scenes tastemakers to public personalities, trendsetters and popularizers of design.

Each evening session will be structured around a lecture and discussion of case studies led by Dorrans Saeks and visiting design professionals. Through class discussions and home projects, participants will be encouraged to define and demonstrate their own design ideas.

"Behind the Scenes" will take place on Wednesday, September 8 to November 3, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm; also Saturday, October 23 and 30, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm at the UC Extension Center, 55 Laguna Street, San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden .
