Gertrude T. Geran, 85.


WORCESTER Gertrude T. (Morgan) Geran, 85, of Worcester and formerly of Holden, died Thursday, April 2, 2009 in her home.

Her husband of 39 years, John F. Geran, died in 1989. She leaves two daughters, Mary Lou Piekos and her husband Stanley of Sinking Spring Sinking Spring is the name of several towns in the United States:

, Pa., and Kathleen M. Werner and her husband Stephen of Huntsville, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Jessica, Brian, Christopher, Laura and her husband Patrick, Benjamin and his wife Blair, Michael and Stephen, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Samuel, Rylee and Lillian; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Rev. William H. Morgan and John Morgan John Morgan is a common name, especially in Wales, UK. Well-known people with this name include: Per profession

Mrs. Geran was born in New Haven, daughter of William and Sarah (Kane) Morgan. She grew up in West Roxbury and lived in the Boston area before moving to Worcester in 1964. She moved to Holden in 1987 and returned to Worcester nine years ago.

Before her marriage, Mrs. Geran was a secretary for the John Hancock Insurance John Hancock Insurance is a loose term for a major United States insurance company which existed, in various forms, from its founding on April 21, 1862, until its acquisition in 2004 by the Canadian insurance company Manulife Financial. It was named in honor of John Hancock.  Co. in Boston.

She was a longtime member of St. George's Church where she worked in the parish office for many years. She was a member of the parish Women's Guild and was involved as a volunteer in several parish activities.

Gert was devoted to her family and church, but always found time to follow her beloved Boston Red Sox The Boston Red Sox are a professional baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts. The Red Sox are a member and currently champions of the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball’s American League. From to the present, the Red Sox have played in Fenway Park. .

Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, are Monday, April 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be Tuesday, April 7 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. George's Church, 38 Brattle brat·tle   Scots
