One of six children, Gertrude was the daughter of Ernest and Harriet (Champion) Blair from New Haven New Haven, city (1990 pop. 130,474), New Haven co., S Conn., a port of entry where the Quinnipiac and other small rivers enter Long Island Sound; inc. 1784. He served as Solicitor General of the United States (1967-1973) under Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard M. Nixon. He also served as Dean of Harvard Law School for 21 years. , who passed away in 1993. Gertrude moved to Lincoln Hill Manor Rest Home, Spencer, in 1999, where she enjoyed the thoughtful care given by the home's administration and staff. She was a member of Oak Hill Bible Church, Oxford. Gertrude leaves her sister, Edna Read of Avon, CT; a niece, Nancy MacMeekin of Gettysburg, PA; a grand niece, Katherine Becker and her husband Matthew and their two sons, Todd and Joshua, of Ephrata, PA; a nephew, Stephen Read and his wife, Kathie and their son Ethan of Avon, CT; a sister in law, Rose Blair of North Haven, CT. She will be missed by her good friends Jean and Vaughan Carmichael of Spencer as well as Cindy Ricard of Charlton. Gertrude was predeceased by her four brothers, Ernest, James, Raymond and Stephen Blair. A graveside grave·side n. The area beside a grave. service will be held at 10:00 A.M.
