Gertrude A. Hartnett; 1914-2008.


SPRINGFIELD Gertrude Ann Hartnett, age 94, died on April 27, 2008 at Mont Marie Health Care Center in Holyoke. She was born in Worcester, MA on April 15, 1914 to Doctor J. Henry and Mable (Hennessey) Hartnett. She leaves a niece, A. Christina Hall, of Savannah, Georgia Savannah is a city located in (and the county seat of) Chatham County, Georgia (USA). The city's population was 128,500 in 2005, according to the most recent U.S. Census estimate. Savannah was the first colonial and state capital of Georgia. ; a niece, Karen J. Hartnett, of Fulshear, Texas Fulshear is a town in Fort Bend County, Texas, United States. The population was 716 at the 2000 census. Fulshear is part of the Houston Metropolitan Area.

Miss Hartnett received Masters Degrees in both Education and Social Work from Simmons College Simmons College may refer to:

  • Simmons College (Massachusetts) - a liberal arts women's college in Boston, Massachusetts.
 and had careers in both education and social work in Boston and Hartford. Upon retirement from her teaching career, she cared for her mother in Worcester and also other family relatives. She moved to Springfield in 1980 to live with her late sister, Mary Foley, who died in 1999. Miss Hartnett's family and friends extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Mont Marie Health Care Center, in Holyoke, for their compassionate care of her during the last four years.

The funeral will be held Thursday morning from Tazzini Funeral Home, with a Mass in Sacred Heart Church The Sacred Heart Church may mean:
