Gerstman Named Chairman of Interbrand.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 2000

Richard Gerstman has been named Chairman of Interbrand. Gerstman previously was President of Interbrand Gerstman+Meyers, the firm's product packaging identity and design unit.

Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Interbrand Group, said, "Dick is one of the true pioneers in the fusion of brand identity with product packaging. He has demonstrated his vision with such clients as Johnson & Johnson, Kellogg's, AT&T, Schering Plough, General Motors and Procter & Gamble. In his new role, he will work closely with me to advise on important client issues and to expand Interbrand's market presence. Dick also will be a member of Interbrand Group's Board of Directors."

Gerstman formed Gerstman+Meyers with Herbert M. Meyers in 1970. Since that time, the two have been instrumental in developing renowned brand identity solutions and package design in America. Among their many landmark projects:
-- changing the 100-year-old Listerine bottle to its new plastic shape (no.1 in
the category);

-- changing the 100-year-old Breyers Ice Cream identity to black packages - a
revolutionary idea in the category - to help Breyers become no. 1 in the
category;

-- developing the "blue tag" brand identity and packaging for Perdue, the first
branded poultry;

-- introducing the new identity for Nabisco's Snackwell's brand, which became
the most successful new food introduction in the 90s; and

-- changing the Lipton brand identity and packaging.


In 1996, Interbrand Gerstman+Meyers became part of Interbrand Group, specializing in brand identity, structural and graphic package design, brand strategy and consumer research.

Gerstman is a member of the Brand Design Association and is a frequent lecturer on packaging and marketing issues.
