Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel hired to design condominiums.

Gemer Kronick + Valcarcel, Architects P.C. has been hired by Post Properties of Atlanta and the Clarett Group to design a 20-story luxury condominium at First Ave. and 23rd St.

Named The Luminaria, the building will be an example of modernist architecture, combining elegance with historic loft-style features. The property will be constructed of decorative cast-in-place concrete, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and walls of high- performance clear and frosted glass. During daylight hours, sun will stream through the frosted glass walls to bathe the interior in light At night, the building itself will glow from within, filtering the light of each home through the glass walls.

In modernist architectural style, the structural frame of The Luminaria is fully expressed, and all of the voids between the structure are open to light. Interior layouts complement the framework. Materials such as rich woods, polished concrete, and sculpted art glass will define the lobby, common areas, and high-speed elevator cabs. Other shared spaces, including a health club, a meeting room, and a terrace will be custom designed.
