Germany sees Meads with Eads.
The German parliament has given the green light to the
country's participation in the transatlantic Medium Extended Air
Defense System (Meads) programme, opening the doors for a $3.4 billion
contract award to Meads International. Eads/LFK will receive 25 per cent
of the total business, with MBDA-IT in Italy receiving 17 per cent and
Lockheed Martin in the USA taking 58 per cent. The Meads is an
air-transportable, ground-based air defence system that covers all
airborne threat scenarios, including tactical ballistic missiles with a
range of 1000 km in out-of-area operations.
