Gerdau Ameristeel purchases Fargo Iron and Metal Co.


Gerdau Ameristeel, headquartered in Tampa, Fla., has announced that it has acquired Fargo Iron and Metal Co., Fargo, N.D. The company did not disclose the transaction terms.

 and processing facility for more than 100 years and employs 25 people. The company also operates a steel service center for local manufacturers and construction companies.

"The Fargo Iron operations and experienced team will enhance Gerdau Ameristeel's continuing strategy to grow the company's scrap processing capability throughout North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. ," Matt Yeatman, vice president of raw materials, says. "Fargo is a great fit because of its proximity to four existing North Dakota North Dakota, state in the N central United States.
