Gerald G. Call named new American Foundry Society executive vice president effective May 1.


In an announcement proclaiming the "future is bright for the American Foundry A semiconductor manufacturer that makes chips for third parties.  metalcasting industry," AFS President H. Arthur Edge, Jr., vice president & works manager (retired), American Cast Iron Pipe Co., named Gerald G. Call the new AFS executive vice president, effective May 1.

"With Call's enthusiasm and the continued hard work of the AFS associates, the Society and its membership have even better days ahead of themselves," said Edge.

Call will be replacing current Executive Vice President Dwight Barnhard, who assumed the role as the Society's day-to-day leader on an interim basis in May 2000. On March 15, Call will begin a transition period in which he will be working side by side with Barnhard before officially assuming his new role on May 1.

Call joins AFS from ThyssenKrupp Stahl Co., where he served as assistant plant manager for the firm's Warrensburg, Mo. facility for the last two years. Prior to this position, Call served as AFS director of membership for three years. In total, Call brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience in metalcasting production, human resources The fancy word for "people." The human resources department within an organization, years ago known as the "personnel department," manages the administrative aspects of the employees.  and safety positions to his new responsibilities as AFS executive vice president.
