Geoworks selects Craig Taylor as new vice president of engineering.

Prior to joining Geoworks, Taylor managed all system software design and development for EO's line of smart cellular phones. He also built a team of managers to complete a broad range of software activities including: hardware and software integration, implementation and testing of multi-tasking kernel, modem, FAX and cellular capabilities, application framework among other responsibilities. Taylor also held the position of Chief Architect for EO, where he developed and shipped three versions of PenPoint, GO's award-winning, object-oriented operating system An operating system that is based on objects. Previously, Taylor was manager of the Advanced Toolkit Group for Sun Microsystems where he was a strategic planner for window systems, toolkits and application platforms. He also was a senior staff software engineer for Sun and developed SunView, Sun's mainstay windowing system. At Atari, Taylor was a founding member of Atari Corporate Research where he delivered a working prototype of the "Intelligent Encyclopedia."

Geoworks develops and markets operating systems and application software for the CCD market. CCDs include mobile devices, information appliances and set-top boxes for interactive television.

Geoworks has established relationships with nine OEM partners. Those that have been announced to date include Brother International, Canon Business Machines, Inc., Casio Computer Co., Ltd., Hewlett-Packard Company, IBM/EduQuest, Sharp Corporation and Toshiba Corporation. The remaining two partners will be announced in 1995. In addition, the company has agreements with such communications providers as America On-Line, CompuServe, Inc., and Motorola, Inc., and Hewlett-Packard and Novell Corporation have made significant equity investments in the company.
