This is a fascinating way to learn about the Revolutionary War and its spies: George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Nathan Hale, Paul Revere Revere, city (1990 pop. 42,786), Suffolk co., E Mass., a residential suburb of Boston, on Massachusetts Bay; settled c.1630, set off from Chelsea and named for Paul Revere 1871, inc. as a city 1914. , and a passel of other familiar names. Allen writes in an accessible way, comparing 18th-century spy terms with modern ones, explaining clearly and making it all accessible. George Washington is the star and it's refreshing to hear about him as a completely different kind of person than we are used to. Keeler reads in a pleasant, objective manner, giving his audience time to absorb the details without slowing down so much that his listeners lose interest. History teachers take note there is more than one way to explore the American Revolution. Mary Purucker, Beverly Hills, PL, Beverly Hills, CA
