JS This is a fascinating way to learn about the Revolutionary War and its spies: George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Nathan Hale, Paul Revere Revere, city (1990 pop. 42,786), Suffolk co., E Mass., a residential suburb of Boston, on Massachusetts Bay; settled c.1630, set off from Chelsea and named for Paul Revere 1871, inc. as a city 1914. , and a passel of other familiar names. Allen writes in an accessible way, comparing 18th-century spy terms with modern ones, explaining clearly and making it all accessible. George Washington is the star and it's refreshing to hear about him as a completely different kind of person than we are used to. Keeler reads in a pleasant, objective manner, giving his audience time to absorb the details without slowing down so much that his listeners lose interest.
