George Fuller Co. to expand law library at St. John's.


The George A. Fuller George A. Fuller (1851-1900) was the "inventor" of modern skyscrapers. He built the Tacoma building in 1889. This was the first structure where the outside walls were not load bearing.

Fuller was an architect who invented the modern contracting system.

, has been awarded the general contract to build an addition to the library at St. John's University School of Law St. John's University School of Law is a law school in Queens, New York City, affiliated with St. John's University. According to the 2008 U.S. News rankings, St. John's is ranked 70th among the top 100 law schools in the nation.

The $20 million project is scheduled to begin construction early this spring, with completion expected by January, 1994. The new building, which will be known as Finley Hall, is being designed by Carson, Lundin & Thorson, PC, to meet the demands of growing enrollment at the school and developments in research technology and law library science.

The six-story, 86,000-square-foot project will enlarge the research facility and include a two-story atrium, classrooms, faculty offices, a student lounge, and alumni function areas.

Currently, the firm is completing renovations of the Manhattan Municipal Building Coordinates:  The Manhattan Municipal Building is a 40-story building built to accommodate increased governmental space demands after the 1898 consolidation of New York City from  and the landmark Guggenheim Museum. Fuller was recently selected, in a joint venture with Parsons Brinkerhoff, as the construction quality manager for the new $140 million Federal Courthouse in Boston, Massachusetts.
