Geoffrey Broderick Joins J.D. Power and Associates as Vice President, Planning and Development.


WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- Geoffrey Broderick will join J.D. Power and Associates (JDPA JDPA JD Power and Associates

) on June 1, 2005, in a new position as vice president, planning and development, reporting directly to JDPA president Stephen Goodall.

Mr. Broderick will be responsible for global strategic planning Strategic planning is an organization's process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy, including its capital and people. ; new product development; developing partnerships and business opportunities within The McGraw-Hill Companies; assessing markets; and creating strategic alliances and joint ventures. He will also serve on JDPA's Management Committee.

Mr. Broderick's previous position was vice president, business development at BusinessWeek, a business unit of The McGraw-Hill Companies. At BusinessWeek, he led all business development activities and strategic alliances and managed several line operations.

"Geoff's diverse background with BusinessWeek and other McGraw-Hill business units will help us to accelerate our progress in achieving our global growth initiatives," said Stephen Goodall, president of J.D. Power and Associates.

Mr. Broderick joined The McGraw-Hill Companies in 1999 through the Associate Development Program and served in a variety of roles, including working to build the business model at McGraw-Hill Construction's Sweets.com; developing products for Standard & Poor's; and improving market penetration Noun 1. market penetration - the extent to which a product is recognized and bought by customers in a particular market

 and forging strategic business alliances abroad for BusinessWeek Online in Europe. He officially joined BusinessWeek in 2001.

Prior to joining The McGraw-Hill Companies, Mr. Broderick was an officer in the U.S. Navy and held various leadership roles. He was twice awarded the U.S. Navy Commendation Medal For other medals of the same name, see .
