The new service, available from September 8, 2005, is designed to make security enhancements such as digital signing and anti-phishing protection easier than ever.

Presently, the cost, labor, and technical requirements necessary to introduce managed client certificate service to businesses means that this service is only available to the large organizations. However, the new certificate authority ASP service can be used by smaller organizations to handle as few as 10 certificates, and can be introduced for initial costs of only 280,000 yen. No preparations or other start-up work is necessary -- client certificate issuance operations can be realized immediately.
