Gensler's Koren takes over SMPS leadership duties.

The announcement was made by Meredith Berman, former president of the Chapter.

Koren, who began his one-year term on September 16, 2005, has served on the SMPS SMPS Society for Marketing Professional Services

 board for two years and has been the organization's active member for six.

 SMPS's efforts to provide professional development courses to its membership. Most recently, he has been co-directing SMPS's full-day educational and career development program, "THE Marketing Event."

The event will take place on November 4 at the Center for Architecture.

"David has played a major role in spearheading SMPS activities over the past few years," said Berman. "His level of commitment and his leadership capabilities are exemplary."

Koren is well known within the architectural community. He is the author of The Architect's Essentials of Marketing, published by John Wiley John Wiley may refer to:

Organized in 1857, the Institute conducts various activities and programs to support the profession and enhance its public image, including periodically awarding the AIA .

In addition, he served as the co-chair of the marketing committee of the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects from 2001 to 2004 and has developed and moderated a wide variety of programs, panel discussions, roundtables and lectures related to marketing for the built environment.

In 2003, he received the SMPS-New York chapter's Marketing Mentor Mentor, in Greek mythology

 Award. "My predecessors have done a wonderful job making the SMPS into a successful professional organization for the marketing community in our industry," said Koren.

"During my term, I'd like to see us reach even further, creating new programs that benefit our members, building a greater sense of community among marketers, and growing our ranks. And I think it all starts with our big event on November 4."

The Society for Marketing Professional Services is the source of educational and networking opportunities for marketing professionals employed by firms serving the built and natural environment.
