Genset makes announcement.


PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 1996--Genset S.A. ("Genset") announced today the initial public offering of 1.8 million Ordinary Shares which are offered in the form of either Ordinary Shares or American Depositary Shares American Depositary Share (ADS)

Foreign stock issued in the US and registered in the ADR system.
 ("ADSs") with each ADS representing one-third of one Ordinary Share at FF 249.02 per Ordinary Share and US$16 per ADS. All of the shares are being sold by the Company. Genset has granted the underwriters an option to purchase up to an additional 270,000 Ordinary Shares, in the form of Ordinary Shares or ADSs, to cover over-allotments, if any.

The offering will be made by the following group of underwriters led by CS First Boston First Boston Corporation was a New York-based investment bank, founded in 1932 and acquired by Credit Suisse in 1988, when it became 'CS First Boston'. The Paris-based company is engaged in the systematic and comprehensive analysis of the human genome to identify and patent genes and regulatory regions related to selected common diseases. Its objective is to apply its genomics technology to discover drugs for such diseases and to enter into strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical companies which will develop and market these drugs.
