Genocea Biosciences Closes $23 Million Series A Financing, Names Vaccine Veteran Staph Leavenworth Bakali CEO.


New Financing Led by SR One, the Corporate Venture Arm of GlaxoSmithKline, to Commercialize Novel Vaccine Discovery Platform

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Genocea Biosciences, a vaccine discovery and development company, today announced that it has raised a $23 million Series A financing led by SR One, the corporate venture arm of GlaxoSmithKline [GSK GSK GlaxoSmithKline plc (pharmaceutical company)

The cycads, ginkgoes, and conifers comprise the three major orders of gymnosperms, or cone-bearing plants (see cone and plant).  Group, and Alexandria Real Estate Equities also participated in the financing and were joined by returning founding investors Lux Capital Management, Polaris Venture Partners and Morningside Ventures.

 Leavenworth Bakali as its new Chief Executive Officer. Leavenworth Bakali replaces Genocea co-founder Robert Paull, co-founder and Managing General Partner of Lux Capital Management. Paull will remain on Genocea's Board of Directors.
