Leadership Focus Aligns with Company's High-Performance

Mixed Signal and Analog Initiative

BURLINGTON, Ontario -- Continuing with its efforts to streamline its product and technology portfolio, Gennum Corporation (TSX:GND) announced it is considering various strategic alternatives for its VXP Image Processing Group, which includes advanced video processing algorithm intellectual property (IP) and integrated semiconductor products for the broadcast, professional-AV and consumer video processing markets.

As part of this effort, Gennum has been working closely with Genuity Capital Markets who are assisting in its review and consideration of strategic alternatives. Today's announcement is part of the company's ongoing strategy to refine its focus on high-performance mixed signal and analog technologies and products for the video transport and data communications markets.

"VXP is an extremely successful technology and the advanced algorithms developed at Gennum are a testament to the innovation of our VXP team," said Franz Fink, CEO of Gennum. "However, we are making these strategic changes as we believe the opportunities in high-performance mixed signal and analog will better position Gennum to secure and gain global market share."

In addition to the options being considered for its VXP Group, the company also announced that it has realigned its leadership and product divisions to place stronger emphasis and focus on high-performance mixed signal and analog market opportunities. Specifically, Gennum has created an Analog and Mixed Signal Division, which will be managed by Martin Rofheart as Senior Vice President and General Manager. Gennum's popular optical products for both video and data communications will now be incorporated into a single Optical Products Division, which will be run by Gary Beauchamp, Senior Vice President and General Manager. The VXP Group will be led by industry-veteran David Lynch as its Senior Vice President. Finally, Alan Ferguson assumes the position of Vice President of Corporate Development, as the company continues to explore new market opportunities for its broad portfolio of products and technologies. Ferguson has held various senior sales and product development positions in the company with his most recent role being Director of Marketing for Gennum's video products.

Last week, Gennum announced it has established new offices throughout Asia and North America, further underscoring the company's commitment to serving its video and data communications customers in the high-performance mixed signal and analog arena. Additionally, earlier this month Gennum announced CellPoint Connect AB had purchased the company's consumer headset product line, further streamlining its current product portfolio.
