Generals' streak alive.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - Six different Eugene Generals scored goals Saturday night in a 6-3 victory over the Coeur d'Alene Colts in Northern Pacific Hockey League play.

Ben Wilks opened with an unassisted goal, and Tyler Tymchuck added a power-play score in the first period as the Generals jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

The Colts scored to open the second period, but Eugene's Justin Adams put the Generals in front 3-1.

Coeur d'Alene scored the next two goals to knot the score at 3-3 after two periods.

In the third period, Sean O'Conner, Clayton Lewis and Steven Slattery scored as Eugene rolled to victory. Dylan Woodring had 40 saves in goal for the Generals.

The Generals (3-3) won their third straight, while the Colts (0-6) are still looking for their first victory

Woodard leads Mid-Am, Tennant seven back

CAREFREE, Ariz. - Dawn Woodard of Franklin, Tenn., fired a 3-under 70 Saturday to take the lead after the first round of stroke play at the 2007 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship.

Virginia Derby Grimes of Meridian, Miss., finished three shots back at even-par 73 at the 6,208-yard, par-73 Desert Forest Golf Club.

Former UO women's golf coach Lara Tennant is tied for 10th after shooting a 4-over 77.

Current UO women's golf coach Shannon Rouillard shot an 80 and is tied for 29th.

Two of Rouillard's former Duck teammates also competed on Saturday. Leigh Casey shot 83 and sits in a tie for 55th and Amy Walker was tied for 109th at 89.

After a second day of stroke play today, the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur field will be reduced to 64 players for match play.

Whitaker, Adams lead men at Bandon Dunes

BANDON - Dan Whitaker of Cle Elum, Wash., and John Adams of San Clemente, Calif., each shot a 4-under-par 68 at the Bandon Dunes course Saturday to lead the first round of the men's U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship at Bandon Dunes Resort.

Austin Eaton, the 2004 Mid-Amateur champion, from North Sutton, N.H., posted a 2-under-par 69 for the lowest score at the par-71, 6,957-yard Bandon Trails course.

Tim Tucker of Coos Bay was the top Oregon entry on the Trails course with a 70. Jason Humphrey of Coos Bay shot a 78, Mark Wilson of Oakland and Thomas Prevost of McMinnville shot 80s.

Each golfer will play another stroke-play round today before the field of 264 is trimmed to the low 64 scorers, who will advance to match-play competition on the Bandon Dunes course.

Wagner's two goals spark Lane women's soccer

Emily Wagner scored twice and Kori Wilgus once Saturday as Lane Community College defeated Clark 3-1 in NWAACC women's soccer.

Wagner scored her first goal at 13 minutes. Wilgus made it 2-0 at 28 minutes and Wagner added her final goal at 67 minutes.

Amanda Krumdieck had three saves in goal for Lane, 6-3 in league.

Southern Oregon tops NCC in women's volleyball

ASHLAND - Mercedes LeClaire had 16 digs Saturday as Northwest Christian College lost to Southern Oregon 30-18, 30-16, 30-25 in Cascade Collegiate Conference volleyball.

Southern Oregon improved to 13-4 overall and 7-1 in league while the Beacons slipped to 7-8 and 2-6.

Evergreen State shuts out Beacon men in soccer

SPRINGFIELD - Eduardo Millan scored two goals Saturday as Evergreen State defeated Northwest Christian College 5-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference men's soccer.

Evergreen State is 3-6-1 overall and 2-4-1 in league. Northwest Christian is 1-9 and 1-6.
