ISLAMABAD, October 05, 2010 (Frontier Star): President of the Republic of France Nicolas Sarkozy conferred the highest French military award, Legion of Honour Legion of Honour
 officially Order of the Legion of Honour

Highest-ranking order and decoration of the French republic. It was created by Napoleon in 1802 as a general military and civil order of merit.
 (Lgion dhonneur) to Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majid General Tariq Majid or Tariq Majeed (born August 1950) is a Pakistani general and chairman-designate Joint Chiefs of Staff who will take over once the out-going General Ehsan ul Haq retires on October 7, 2007. . The award was conferred on behalf of the French President by Ambassador of France to Pakistan Daniel Jouanneau in a simple ceremony held at Joint Staff Headquarters, Chaklala on Tuesday. , General Tariq has played a major role in consolidation and modernization of the Armed Forces of Pakistan and pursued close engagement earning respect of the foreign partners, and that his country wanted to express its appreciation and gratitude to General Tariq Majid for enhancing bilateral ties and defence cooperation between the two countries. That is why President Nicolas Sarkozy has decided to confer the title of Officer of the Legion of Honour, the highest French National Order, he said.
