General Magic Appoints Chief Technical Officer.

June 12, 2000 -General Magic, Inc. (Nasdaq:GMGC), the leading voice application service provider, today announced the appointment of Dr. Danny B. Dr. Lange joined General Magic in 1997. His early work with General Magic resulted in the invention of voice agents, which monitor and act on Web content on behalf of a user, interacting with the user via voice. Currently, Dr. Lange is responsible for the high level architecture of General Magic's industry-leading magicTalk communications platform. MagicTalk enables rapid development and deployment of end-to-end voice solutions and is the platform adopted by General Motors' OnStar for their Virtual Advisor scheduled for deployment later this year.

Dr. Lange is also widely known for his invention of the Java aglet, a lightweight mobile agent for the Java programming environment. In addition to his agent work, he has contributed in the areas of hypertext, object-oriented database See object database.

Prior to joining General Magic, Dr. Lange was a visiting scientist at IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  Tokyo Research Laboratory from 1993-1997. He has also been a visiting researcher at Tokyo University and a consultant for Nissho Electronics in Tokyo. Dr. Lange holds MS and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the Technical University of Denmark The Technical University of Denmark (Danish: Danmarks Tekniske Universitet, DTU) was founded in 1829 as the 'College of Advanced Technology' (Danish: Den Polytekniske Læreanstalt). .
