The company expects the deal to be completed early 2007.

The popular branded GeneDetect(R) and GreenStar hyperlabeled gene probe product ranges are used to measure gene expression in tissue samples. Completion of the Human genome project, whose goal was to identify every Human gene, and similar sequencing efforts in other species such as the Mouse have lead to an increase in the need for sensitive gene probes to detect tissue gene expression. These gene expression studies attempt to further understand Human disease and to develop therapeutics to treat these diseases. The GeneDetect(R) and GreenStar hyperlabeled gene probe product ranges are used worldwide everyday by researchers in leading research institutes and companies for this purpose.

"These two brands represent high margin, stand alone, differentiable product ranges ready-made for addition to any acquiring company's existing product portfolio," said GeneDetect Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Paul E Hughes. "We believe there will be widespread interest in the tender process. We intend to use net proceeds from this sale to develop other products that will drive our company's long-term growth."

Interested parties can register their interest in participating in the tender process by downloading and completing the registration of interest package at the company's website.
