Gene-IT Introduces Sequence Information Broadcast Network for Life Sciences; GenomeCast Keeps Growing Biological and Patent Sequence Literature Current for In-house Investigation.

PARIS Paris, in Greek mythology
Paris or Alexander, in Greek mythology, son of Priam and Hecuba and brother of Hector. Because it was prophesied that he would cause the destruction of Troy, Paris was abandoned on Mt.
and WORCESTER, Mass. -- Gene-IT today announced GenomeCast(TM), a genomic broadcast network addressing the labor-intensive problem for bio-IT staff of keeping the vastly-growing biological and patent sequence references current for in-house bio-sequence investigation.

"Concerned with the privacy of their sequence IP, companies are spending a lot of time and money maintaining sequence reference databases, yet their scientists prefer the public search portals," said Ron Ranauro, Gene-IT chief executive officer. "When we asked why, we learned that scientists go where they get the answer fast and where information is current." Ranauro added, "With GenomeQuest and GenomeCast, the goal is to incentivize in·cen·tiv·ize
tr.v. in·cen·tiv·ized, in·cen·tiv·iz·ing, in·cen·tiv·iz·es
To offer incentives or an incentive to; motivate:
scientists to search in-house so they can recall what they did, share findings with colleagues, and keep valuable IP in-house."

The network broadcasts sequence content from worldwide sequence repositories including NCBI NCBI National Center for Biotechnology Information (NIH)
NCBI National Coalition Building Institute
NCBI National Council for the Blind of Ireland (Dublin, Ireland)
, EMBL EMBL European Molecular Biology Laboratory
EMBL Eniwetok Marine Biological Laboratory
and DDBJ DDBJ DNA Data Bank of Japan  (DNA DNA: see nucleic acid.

The information is cross-referenced and indexed before being broadcast directly to customer servers where it can be combined with in-house and third party data sources and published in the company's flagship genomic/proteomic sequence search software, GenomeQuest(TM). The service includes the feeds of raw sequence data files for usage by non-Gene-IT applications.

Also announced today, GenomeQuest GeneRef MAX(TM), an exhaustive resource cross-referencing leading micro array probe sets with hundreds of thousands of gene transcripts and millions of patent sequence records is also available for distribution over GenomeCast.
