GenRad Selected by Iveco Trucks to Supply Portable Diagnostic Systems.

:GEN) today announced that its Advanced Diagnostic Solutions (ADS) business unit in Stockport, UK has been selected by Eltrac in Turin, Italy, to supply Iveco with a suite of GDS GDS Global Distribution System

GDS Goodie Domain Service (Vienna University of Technology, Austria)

3500 diagnostic systems. The initial order will be for multiple units and will be in excess of $3.5 million. Initial deployment is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 1999.

The GDS3500 is a PC based service tool that is both portable and robust, and is ideal for deployment in the service bay or on the road. The diagnostic system has both an integral touchscreen and a detachable keyboard for greater flexibility and ease of use. The GDS3500 will provide Iveco with hardware and an operating system operating system (OS)

Software that controls the operation of a computer, directs the input and output of data, keeps track of files, and controls the processing of computer programs.
 running Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. . GenRad will work in conjunction with Eltrac to develop the GDS3500's VCL VCL - Visual Component Library  (Vehicle Communications Link) capability for Iveco trucks. Additionally, GenRad will supply the worldwide support for the new system.

Eltrac's project director, Silvano Appiano, commented, "GenRad will be working in partnership with Eltrac to provide a complete diagnostic solution. This will involve the combination of Eltrac's working knowledge of Iveco's existing systems and the diagnostic and technological expertise that GenRad has already gained within the truck market. With this new diagnostic system, Iveco intends to rapidly increase the diagnostic capabilities in all of its service bays around the world and to further enhance its high-quality service to Iveco customers."

Peter Miles Peter Miles is a British actor. He has played many television roles including several different characters in Z-Cars and Doctor Who. His other television work has included Survivors, The Sweeney, Dixon of Dock Green, Moonbase 3 , Vice President and Director of Business Development for GenRad ADS, added, "This is a further move towards establishing GenRad as the de-facto standard for truck diagnostics.
